Funding awarded for Community project!
Involve Heritage CIC are pleased to announce we have been awarded three years of funding to help manage and support an exciting local Community Archaeology project.
The funds, generously donated by the Nineveh Trust, will allow us to work with MBArchaeology and the Roman Southwell Community Project team through until 2018.
The project has been running since January 2014 and has so far been entirely crowdfunded via public support, involvement & donations. This new funding stream will run alongside the crowdfunded budget, and will mean the project can expand its current work, largely through public events and fieldwork opportunities.
This will start in October with a landscape survey centred on the Roman road that connected the forts of Ad Pontem (Thorpe) and Osmanthorpe (Kirklington), with Southwell cited halfway between the two.
It will involve geophysical surveys, fieldwalking, finds sessions, specialist analysis and a full report of the fieldwork undertaken so far – all these activities will be open to public involvement.
