We are hugely excited to announce that we have just been awarded a ‘Celebrate!’ funding grant from the Big Lottery for a new Community Archaeology project in Derbyshire!

Elmton Revealed! will run from September 2016 through to September 2017 and will see local people trained and supported in undertaking geophysical surveys at Elmton, Derbyshire. We will also work with local schools to help educate them about Elmton’s rich heritage and how it developed in Medieval times.

An exhibition will be created showcasing this history, and a big community celebration event next summer will bring together villagers and the wider community to celebrate the village and its heritage.

The project is a new phase of the wider Elmton Research Project, led by MBArchaeology, that has been researching the rich and varied history at Elmton since 2009. More info on the wider project can be found at www.mbarchaeology.co.uk/projects

If you would like to get involved, please contact Matt via matt@involveheritage.co.uk

An initial meeting is planned for later this month, further info to follow soon.
